IVF abroad delayed? IVF clinics abroad are now accepting UK patients again
Have you spoken to your IVF clinic in Greece or Spain recently? British patients who had their IVF abroad delayed by COVID-19 restrictions, are now being accepted by clinics in both Greece and Spain for treatment again. The International Fertility Company, who oversee private fertility in several countries, report that clinics are “overwhelmed” with enquiries from UK patients.
Why are Spain & Greece accepting UK IVF patients again?
As the vaccination roll-out allows more freedom of movement, the governments of Spain and Greece are looking at ways to encourage tourism safely – and this includes medical tourism, which is an important part of the economy for both countries. This is positive news for Brits who want to undergo fertility treatment at a reduced rate abroad.

What are the restrictions for IVF patients in Greece and Spain?
Each country has its own rules and road map to prevent further outbreaks of COVID-19, which could include proof of vaccination, use of masks on flights, tests and a mandatory quarantine period. These are subject to change, so nothing is set in stone for IVF patients at this point. But it is a huge relief to know that clinics are confident enough to begin to take bookings from the UK again.
